Evangelism & Church Planting
Evangelism and church-planting are the number one priorities of NICM. According to the 2011 census India has a population of over 1.2 billion and 27.1 million are Christians. WOW -that sounds like a large number but when compared to the total population Christian believers make up just 2.3% of the total population. The Pastors and staff of NICM are dedicated to bring the Gospel to those people who have not heard, and they are on fire to bring lost souls to Christ.
NICM is planting New Testament churches through out the Northwest of India. Since we were founded in 1997 we have established 25 churches, numerous Bible study groups, and home churches, and over 7,500 souls have been baptized into Christ. Each Sunday believers gather all over northwest India to worship and lift their hearts up to God in praise, and it all began with two believers and a small Indiana church stepping out in faith to take the Gospel where it had not been taken before.
Many NICM churches are now very near self-supporting and are beginning to reach out to neighboring communities to start new Bible study groups and worship centers. A successful evangelism and church-planting program brings with it a need for new pastors. NICM currently has trained evangelists who are daily praying and waiting for God's provision of $150.00 monthly support so that they can start their evangelistic efforts.
Sponsorship is especially important in the early phases of church planting because there is no mature congregation to provide for the needs of the pastors and sponsorship enables them to give themselves fulltime to their task. Once people respond to the Gospel a congregation takes shape and will eventually become an independent, self-supporting congregation that will then sponsor their own Timothy to continue the work of spreading the Gospel.
